Winery J. Lohr:
Jerry Lohr and his team are true wine pioneers in California. For two generations, they have played a leading role on the Central Coast. When Jerry settled there in the late 1960s, the region had not yet gained even a fraction of its current status as one of North America's most prominent wine regions. Establishing a vineyard in such an undeveloped area was a bold gamble for the farmer’s son from South Dakota. However, his courageous decision has been richly rewarded over the years. With his boldness, vision, and agricultural expertise, Jerry Lohr has played a key role in the development of the Californian wine industry. Rightfully so, J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines has grown into one of the most respected wineries in the region, now encompassing nearly 600 hectares of cool-climate vineyards in Monterey planted with Chardonnay, Riesling, and Pinot Noir. In Paso Robles, Lohr cultivates another 1,200 hectares with Bordeaux and Rhône varietals.
