Description
The Tenuta Sant'Antonio Valpolicella Superiore La Bandina is a unique single vineyard Valpolicella that showcases the class this renowned Italian wine region has to offer. To elevate the quality of Valpolicella, the Castagnedi family created this prestigious Superiore. The result is a powerful yet elegant red wine with great concentration, refined spiciness, and an exceptionally smooth structure.
Red fruit, liquorice, tobacco, and refined cedar wood
This deep ruby-red wine opens with an intense bouquet of ripe red fruits, followed by aromas of liquorice, tobacco, spices, and subtle notes of cedar wood. On the palate, La Bandina is rich and creamy, with an almost velvety texture and perfectly integrated tannins. The long, elegant finish makes this Valpolicella Superiore particularly enticing and gives the wine an impressive balance between power and finesse.
Dried grapes and 24 months of wood aging
The grapes are hand-picked in mid-October and then left to dry for about three weeks in well-ventilated rooms. This further increases the concentration of aromas and flavour. After a slow fermentation, the wine matures for no less than 24 months in large French oak barrels, followed by a year of bottle aging. This careful process gives La Bandina its rich structure, elegant smoothness, and exceptional complexity.
Perfect with red meat, game, and aged cheeses
This Valpolicella Superiore is an excellent accompaniment to grilled red meat, game dishes, slow-cooked stews, and poultry. Its powerful yet elegant character also comes into its own with aged hard cheeses and rich Italian meat dishes.
Tenuta Sant'Antonio
Tenuta Sant'Antonio is one of the leading wineries in Veneto. The four Castagnedi brothers combine generations of viticultural experience with modern techniques and a strong focus on quality. Their wines are internationally renowned for their refinement, pure fruit expression, and excellent balance. La Bandina is considered one of the finest examples of a modern, elegant Valpolicella Superiore.
