Description
The Barón de Ley Gran Reserva Rioja is a classic Gran Reserva from the Rioja DOCa, made from carefully selected Tempranillo grapes from old vineyards in Rioja Alta. This prestigious wine is only produced in the best vintages. Thanks to a long maturation period in both American and French oak barrels, followed by several years in the bottle, it develops impressive complexity, refined elegance, and an exceptionally long finish. This wine is also vegan
Ripe dark fruit, spices, leather, tobacco, and toast
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby red color with slight garnet nuances. The aroma is rich and layered with notes of ripe red and dark fruit, followed by refined hints of spices, leather, tobacco, lavender, ginger, and subtly integrated oak. The taste is full-bodied and rounded, yet remarkably fresh and lively. The long finish is characterized by notes of dried fruit, toast, and delicate spices.
24 months in oak and 3 years in bottle
The grapes are hand-harvested from old Tempranillo vineyards in Cenicero, Rioja Alta. After traditional fermentation, the wine matures for a minimum of 24 months in barriques made of 50% American and 50% French oak. This is followed by over three years of bottle aging, allowing the wine to develop its characteristic finesse, soft tannins, and complex aromas.
Perfect with game, grilled red meat, and aged cheeses
This Gran Reserva truly shines with grilled beef, leg of lamb, roasted pork ribs, venison, saddle of hare, and other game dishes. It also forms an excellent combination with aged hard cheeses and blue cheeses. Thanks to its complex character, it is also wonderful to simply enjoy on its own.
Barón de Ley
Founded in 1985, Barón de Ley is one of Rioja's most renowned wineries. The winery boasts extensive private vineyards surrounding a historic Benedictine monastery. By exclusively using their own grapes and combining traditional Rioja methods with modern winemaking techniques, Barón de Ley produces wines that are globally recognized for their consistent quality, elegance, and excellent aging potential.
